The Excelsior Springs Police Department Headquarters building is located in the downtown area, at 301 S. Main Street, and serves as the City's only police station. The building was originally built in 1988 and is still a very modern and functional building today for the department's personnel. The Police Department is comprised of approximately 40 employees including commissioned officers, communications officers, records staff, and support personnel. The Municipal Court office is also located inside the Police Headquarters building.
In 2012, the end of production of the Crown Vic caused the department to select the 2013 Ford Police Interceptors (sedan and SUV) as the new patrol vehicle of choice. A new graphic vehicle design was also incorporated. In additon to the Police Interceptors, the department also has several specialized vehicles including Ford Explorers, a Ford F250 Animal Control truck, a Police Gator ATV, and iForce Patrol bicycles.
